Screen doesn't wake up

Ever so often I'll take out my ZHD (while still listening to music) to change the song but the screen doesn't come on. I would repeatedly press the home, power, and the side media button but the screen would still remain unchanged. Only after the 5th or so press of the home button would the screen turn back on again.

Anyone else having this issue? I'm a little worried and am wondering if I should take my ZHD and get an exchange...

I have the same issue. I only notice it every once in awhile so I don't mind much. It seems more like a software problem since it eventually does open.

Yeah, same here. I just let it sit for a few seconds and then try again. I believe that it has something to do with the tegra processor going in to sleep mode to save power.

I have this problem as well...so freaking annoying. Not sure why this would happen. Hopefully we get an update soon that could possibly fix this.

I have the same problem. I think it's the chip sleeping and taking a few seconds to wake fully. Hopefully something they fix in the spring update.

Same problem here. If i try to wake the device right after a new song has started playing it usually takes about 3 swipes to get past the lock screen.

Same problem here. My screen looks like a backlight is on but nothing else is on the screen. Pushing the power button to turn the screen off and then turning it back on usually wakes the screen up "for real."

I notice this too, but for me, if that doesn't work, I press the power button on top once then press the button on the side. Also I do notice that sometimes when I try to unlock it and it doesn't sense my first swipe, my second swipe is usually more firm than my previous swipe and it works. Once in a while it does take me to a third swipe but never 5 times or more.

Yep, getting this too. I tap the power/sleep button twice and the lock screen appears.

I don't think it's missing the swipes, it just takes a second or two to 'wake up'. Mine does it too and if you hit the volume button it sometimes takes a second to appear.

Oh wow, seems like I'm not the only with this problem... now I don't feel toooo bad.
But it's still disappointing that this is even happening. Hopefully there'll be some fix out soon?

For me it happens only after song change. Maybe Zune is caching the whole song from flash to put the storage into low-power sleep mode, and is 100% busy with that.
Anyway, this should be fixed :)

Looks like I've found the reason - it happens after the song change and only if I set up brightness to maximum. At medium brightness it's ok. So it's a power issue

I have found that when it does not respond to the home button press, if I press the power button then the home button again, it reacts just fine. I think that it does actually unlock (as some people have reported being able to switch songs) the screen just doesn't turn on right. So relock it with the power button then try again. It works for me.

I agree that this is annoying that such an otherwise amazing device has this problem but I have decided that overall it is worth it. Hopefully the big patch coming this spring will fix the issue.
