Safest Ways to unlock the phone?

Hi everyone,

I just received the phone from an ebay sale, and T-Mobile & Dell are giving me a hard time unlocking it. Has anyone unlocked their phone with a third party, without getting scammed or ripped off?

Eeek, I honestly am not sure what to say, I do know they need the service number from the back of the phone, not sure if the original info of seller is linked to it. Why not try to say it was received as a gift. Most likely the original seller bought it online at Dell.com and activated it from there cuz it's very likely to purchase it from there.

hmm... honestly I got mine unlocked by Dell. I called their mobile division number and their customer rep helped me by doing a conference call with T-Mobile. I assume as long as you don't have any outstanding balance with T-Mobile then they would unlock it for you and give you the unlock code. You will need another carrier's SIM card to complete it though. The number I called was 1 (800) 308-3355.

The problem I have is that I bought the phone from a reseller on ebay, and Dell requires the location of purchase for the phone. I have the name of the seller (it matches the phone), but he doesn't seem to be able to supply the place he purchased from. I'm currently trying to get Dell to unlock it using their email service (supplied to me by T-Mo), but they're being evasive about it.
