I wouldn't switch platforms so much, it won't be cost effective app wise. I reccommend waiting until after CES to buy a DROID X, or Incredible. Verizon should most likely be releasing an update to both devices then, with 4G capability. That should hold you over, however Verizon may be releasing Windows phones this CES also. My best recommendation is to just wait until after CES.

Thanks for the reply. I am not especially concerned with 4G at the price points Verizon is looking at and the only paid app that I have is a game. I am definitely getting a windows phone when my line is available to upgrade. Unless I can sweet talk verizon into letting me do that early (totally possible) then I would rather not be stuck with this eris for another 9 months.

I will wait for them to launch the windows phone on verizon and ask pretty please to let me get an early upgrade and if not then I want to try webOS too especially if the Pre Plus is getting 2.0 and I can get it for $100-200 off craigslist.

I wouldnt do it either. I have an eris. I rooted and installed froyo it runs WAY better. I t still has its quirks but what device doesnt

security I havent had any problems that I know of. everything works great and I just installed the gingerbread keyboard. one word AMAZING! I am using the kaosfroyo rom. Its by far the best.
