Returned for damaged screen, new Kindle overnight

I read a lot about the fragile screens on the Kindle and experienced it myself yesterday. It slipped out of my hand and fell only about one foot onto the carpet, but alas, a 2" square section of the screen was hurt. Called support and they shipped a new one out that day, yesterday, to arrive today. Only stipulation is to send my damaged unit back within 30 days. Great support. Love the product. Wasn't without my book at all thanks to the Kindle iPhone app .

I must say that that's rather amazing! The damage was of your own doing and they still replaced it for you. Is this the normal treatment from amazon concerning damage claims similar to this?

I agree, but the screen absolutely should not have broken with this usage. This is a very fragile screen. Now if you dropped it onto a hard surface or really bang it around, sure. But it was in its case. There are a lot of posts on similar issues with the screen.

I agree their support is first class. About 8 months ago, my kindle had the status line start blank out. They replaced the next day with no questions asked.
