Question about
Restoring iPod Touch backup to iPhone?
I have a fourth generation iPod Touch right now but I plan on upgrading to an iPhone 4 soon. If I setup my iPhone using a backup of the iPod Touch, will I run into any issues?
I know that restoring an iPhone backup to an iPod Touch will cause all sorts of strange problems but what about iPod to iPhone? For example, some apps are altered for the iPod Touch because of a different microphone location and lack of a vibration motor for instance. Will those changes be restored as well?
Or if I wait for iOS 5, will it be able to do all of this for me automatically?

I didn't even think this was possible before doing a little research. One of the pictures on this support page: support.apple.com/kb/ht1414 shows an iPhone selecting a backup of an iPod Touch for Restore.

This isn't really an answer, but why are you planning on upgrading to an iPhone 4 "soon" when the iPhone 5 is likely only a month away?

I agree with cgraham, hold off till the 5 is out. Even if you still want the 4 you are going to see a price drop on it when it becomes the old model.
I'm not sure what iOS 5 would give you in regards to the restore. The iOS 5 would just back you up to Apple's iCloud (if you so choose) and allow synching over your home network, and also could push your latest app and music purchases to your phone when you buy them. Not sure what it would offer you restore wise.

It doesn't really matter either way. it won't cause any problems. i've done it before. iOS 5 means you'll probably just be able to do restore, backup, and update without a computer.
