Recommended: upgrade DVD to SSD

6 months ago, I installed a Disk Doubler SSD drive in place of the DVD drive:
1. Amazing speed improvement. Cold boot time is sub 10seconds, launch Chrome beowser is sub 1second. Overall, I would describe performance as 5x.
2. Installation is scary with all those delicate parts, but all tools are included and videos exist.
3. After you move iTunes and iPhoto library to the old spinning drive, the SSD is about 30-40GB (60GB is the optimal size to install)
4. Cost is about $150 and 2hours install + 2hours od data movement Recommended.

I 've seen videos on these and I think it is great, but the only thing is it makes the computer heavier.

If it is heavier or consumes batteries faster, the difference is so small thatI could never feel it. The bracket is just a few grams of plastic and the SSD is very light. My biggest fear was battery life. My original spinning drive is very quiet and hard to tell when it is on... perhaps it is staying off more hours and therefore there is no power difference?
