what I was trying to say is that I don't need the newest game system, but is it worth it to get this pspgo? If I don't go with the go (haha) I'll probably end up shelling out for a 3ds or psp2 in a couple months.

I'd look for a PSP 1000 series if you're looking for hackability, plus some gaming. That's what started my modding ways back in the day. You can probably find them pretty cheap now. Make sure it's one of the originals though if you do want to mod it, the later series were pretty cracked down by Sony.

Ilike the idea of not carrying umd's. Can the 1000, still play the same downloadable content (if I get one of those memory sticks of course)

Oh yeah you'll just need a pretty big memory card. Or a couple of them.

I think that you should pick up the pspgo for 50. I mean at 50, it's a steal even if it is out of date or soon to be out of date. I recently picked up one for around 90, so the following reasons to take the deal are a little biased...but they're some of the reasons that influenced my decision on whether to buy an old console.

The new portable consoles that are coming out or are already out are, in my opinion, likely to have lackluster launch titles. From what I've read of the 3DS launch selection, it leaves something to be desired. I get the impression that the ngp is going to have launch titles of a similar quality.

In addition, launch consoles are often quite expensive. The NGP, looking at hardware alone, is probably going to be quite expensive. Of the rumours that I've read, the lowest price mentioned was $250. However, I have doubts as to the likelihood of that price actually being the one at launch. The 3DS is pretty pricey as well.

From what I've read, there is firmware that enables homebrew on the psp go. I haven't looked into it myself though. Also, there's 16 gb flash memory on the psp go, so that's plenty for whatever it is you may want to do, or at least it appears to be. You don't have to dump more money into a system that's on its way out, whereas with a psp 1000, I get the impression you could potentially spend more on a 16gb memory stick pro duo than on the console itself.
