Sorry if this a noob question, but I'm planning on getting my first contract phone in a few months (been using prepaid up until now) and had a question about it. If I get a phone on 2 year contract now, could I buy an unlocked version of a new device when it comes out later (assuming it's on the same band as the carrier I'm on) and then somehow switch to that new device and get my service on it? How would I do that? Would I swap SIM cards?
Thanks,
Andrew

Yup, you simply place your current SIM card in the new phone and you're good to go. No penalty for that at all.
