Push gmail not working?

I've made a few posts on here regarding my recent switch from my iPhone 3g to the G1, and I've been having some problems on things that I shouldn't have. This morning, I didn't receive and notifications for my gmail account, but my dad told me he had sent me a few emails. I loaded up gmail, and nothing appeared. I went into settings, data synchronization, and everything is checked on except my contacts. I forced a refresh, and 5 emails were unread. The biggest reason I switched phones was for the push gmail and physical keyboard, and if the push mail doesn't even work, then I'm probably going to switch back.

Has this happened to anyone else? It's the second time it has happened in less than a week.

I have had it happen once or twice but not in a week. It might be because you are on AT&T and it is designed around Tmobiles data. You could try turning off all synching then turning it back on to see if that helps.

make sure you also got the right APN setting down.

Yeah I have my APN correct, but I guess it could be because it wasn't made to work on AT&T. Sounds like I'll just wait for an android phone to come to my network. Thanks anyways guys

I have the G1 (unlocked) and I am on the AT&T network. My Gmail works fine for me, I have no problems at all with read, unread, sent, wtc.. emails.

I am thinking it might just be the network then and where you are. I have seen a few issues(probably since mine is rooted) with pulling data from twitter and a few other apps.

Check if your phone is running low on space. I noticed push will go inactive if there's too little space on the phone's data cache to store the new messages. You may have to clear some app data or uninstall some apps.

That's a good idea. I tried it, and it seems to be working, at least for now. Thanks!

Mine does this on rare occasions -- sometimes the phone just needs a good reboot :)
