Question about
PS3 dual band
ok, so i just got a new airport extreme base station and now i'm interested in making the PS3 compatible with the router's simultaneous dual band capability. i'm not entirely sure what device i should be looking for, plus i'm not sure whether or not the PS3 already has the ability to read a 5 GHz band.
right now, as far as product options go, i have my eyes set on a linksys dual band gaming adapter, but i would prefer something by apple so it'll fit right in with my airport utility. should the airport express work?

But can't you set it only to go single band on those type of routers too?

Depends on the dual band router. All dual bands that I know of allow you to choose to run a wireless network on 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz BUT there are simultaneous dual band routers than can broadcast on BOTH frequencies at the same time. Simultaneous Dual Band routers are the best option if you want the range and the reliability of the 5Ghz band but need the 2.4Ghz for compatibility with other devices such as the PS3 or other pre-N equipment.
