PRC-600 has been recalled

I talked to a salesman at the local sonystyle store who said these units are being recalled. He did not know why, but did say they were instructed not to sell the units they had. He did say that there are units on the floor to play with, and that they are working just fine.

Hmm, roughness. I went into a store yesterday and got to play around with a floor model. They had none in stock, and there doesn't seem to be any in all of the places I've looked. Of the four units they had on display, only one of them seemed to be working properly. Not sure if that's related to the recall, though it was a bit surprising. The one that worked, though, worked rather well. Glare was a bit more than I had expected, though otherwise it was a good experience; fast re-draws, responsive touch screen, etc. Ah well, hopefully they'll get this sorted out soon and we can grab em up.

It's amazing to believe that Sony was once a great consumer electronics company. The new reader line has got to be one of the worst product launches I've ever seen. They make this big announcement a few weeks back, but you can't find one anywhere, release dates are vague. Resellers don't have any in stock. Way to go Sony.

Sony didn't put the warranty cards in the first batch of boxes. The units were recalled to put the warranty cards in the boxes.
