* $39.99 monthly access for 250 MB monthly allowance and 10 cents per megabyte overage
* $59.99 monthly access with a 5 GB monthly allowance and 5 cents per megabyte overage
I think you can also get a daily use (24hrs) for $5 per day or something like that. But I haven't found a way to purchase the device outright without a plan. Though, I have been told it goes for $150 without a plan.
Actually the Month to Month price is $269.99. It's $149.99 for a 2yr contract (before $50 online discount/rebate) and $219.99 (once again, before $50 discount/rebate) with a 1 year contract.
No Contract: $270
1 Yr Contract: $220 ($170)
2 Yr Contract: $150 ($100)
Also, you need to get the 2 yr contract to be eligible for your "New Every Two" discount, which for mobile broadband cards is $50.
I'l be picking mine up shortly (with two year contract) for $50. :)
What is the "new every two" discount? I saw that on the paperwork. I paid $149 for mine and have a $50 rebate in the bag that I will use within the next 30 days. Want to make sure I like it before I cut off the UPC code.
After rebate I'll have paid $99 for the unit and have the $59.99 bandwidth contract for 2 yrs. Does the "new every two" thing give even more of a discount?
According to the Verizon site (www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/mobilebroadband/?page=...) the plans listed above are correct except the day plan (i.e. DAYPASS) which is $15/session (which is 24 consecutive hours). Also, I saw the MiFi 2200 (Verizon) at Amazon (bit.ly/3yvdi) for $218.73 with NO CONTRACT! I think I will get one in the very near future :-).
I got the Sprint version of this as well--the really great news is that the 5GB bandwidth cap, the clerk "waived" it and upgraded it to unlimited usage for me. Apparently if you're in a credit union, you can get the MiFi, with unlimited bandwidth, at the regular cost of $59.99. I logged on to the Sprint website and checked my account. Sure enough, it says I have unlimited bandwidth usage available. This thing FLIES with speed too. I'm impressed.
If anyone works someone that has Verizon business lines of service, you may eligible for your work's business plan discount (somewhere between 7%-15% normally). The best part about signing up through your work's business account is that your work may have purchased the data only plans when VZW first came out with their "unlimited data usage" plan. If they did, then you can sign-up for the unlimited data access plan, which still includes a 5GB cap, VZW will not charge you for overages. Instead the line of service will be throttled to 128kbps up/down until the next billing cycle, which is much better than paying per Mb overages.
