Question about

Photos and videos disappearing from gallery.

I am having an issue with my photos and videos disappearing from the viewer gallery. At times there are blacked out squares with a "?" mark over the ones that are missing, and at other times the photos/videos just aren't listed at all in the total count- gallery listing 15 photos when there should be a total of 20.

They are not deleted and do not seem to be corrupted, because a soft reset with the phone will bring them back to life and proper working order. For a couple hours that is, until they randomly disappear again.

There does not seem to be any other issues with the phone or SD reading, as apps loaded on SD can be started up without issue, the app list in the SD installed manager in options reads all installed on there, and the available space under settings-storage appears to stay current on the SD card.

Anyone else with this issue or ideas to resolve?

Thanks.

Since I wrote the original post I have played around with diferent gallery apps, and they all seem to work fine. I settled on QuickPic mainly for the dead simple layout and have not had any issues with missing files. Seems like the how the stock gallery reading the SD card is the issue here. Good that third party apps can solve this, but sad that the primary apps can't work as advertised.

I should also mention this is the Droid Incredible 2 version in case of small differences between this and the S.

I have the Incredible S, shouldn't be too different. I have also had this problem. Usually, once I delete the picture/video through the camera pre-viewer(once you take a shot, there is a little icon to preview that shot in the camera app), whether it be accidentally, or knowingly, it shows up in my actual gallery for a few hours, disappears, then re-appears, and keeps wobbling through the two. Also, I have the stock Google gallery that I installed, and the HTC gallery, and I have had problems with pictures disappearing ever since I installed the stock Google gallery. Haven't found a solution. This is something that should be done one HTC;s end.

I have the HTC Incredible S and I have the above problem as well. I've had it about 2 months, and it's just recently that this has started to happen. A real bummer when one takes 15 great shots of one's niece (yesterday) and then today they are all gone!

All helpful suggestions welcome,
cheers, o.

Do a factory data reset. If that doesn't work get a 3rd party gallery application. It happened to me but the software update fixed it
