Question about

over the last month, i've noticed some gray/white lines at the very top of my display. they're about dead center & span 3-4".

i can't really see it if i play a movie or if the screen's all black. it only shows up with lighter colors. any ideas what would cause this?

I apologize if this sounds ridiculous or condescending, but have you recently changed your desktop background in Snow Leopard? Ever since they've gone to the semi-translucent menu bar, I've found myself wondering on occasion if there are weird marks at the very top of my screen.

Turns out, it was the particular background I had and some of the image was showing through the menu bar. I thought my screen was going bad for the longest time!

just a quick update: the lines finally drove me crazy enough that i took my imac into the apple store. it was an issue with the display. dropped it off while i was on vacation, came back, fixed! apple's in-store service is so great.
