I really love Doggcatcher for Android. I only really use this for audio but notice that it's just as happy with video. The developers are also very helpful.

Listen is a google made app that works pretty well for audio podcasts, I don't know how it'd work with video. You can manage subscriptions via Reader Doggcatcher is a popular one but again, I don't know if it does video.

You could alternatively look into something like Subsonic but it may be more of a headache than you're looking for.

I've been using BeyondPod and like it a lot. It's $6.99 if you want the pro version (I can't remember what the pro version offers that the free version doesn't offhand), but it's worth it in my opinion. To set up your podcasts, you can either search or have it hook into your Google Reader account (Listen does the same thing). And you can schedule updates as often as you'd like, and even specify that it should only download when charging, when on wireless, etc.

If you're a former iPhone user who switched to Android like I did, but you like the iTunes player for vodcasts...

...just use your old iPhone as a video iPod for vodcasts only and use the Android for everything else. I use bluetooth stereo and although I look like a total IT guy by carrying two phones, this system works for me.
