Question about
barry

O.k., so I shelled out the extra $50 almost exclusively b/c of the keyboard, but now I need some help. What apps are must haves?

What's the best Twitter app for Android? Kid's games for my four-year old? Also what tweaks do I need to make off the bat to get the best performance? battery life? thanks.

I use Seesmic and the twitter for android, although i mostly use twitter for Andriod it to notify me when someone @ msgs me but i think Seesmic can do the same. I use the Seemic desktop and web app on my Mac. The app Alchemy is so much fun and addicting. My friend and I are competing to see who can reach 300 first or who can make exotic elements before the other can.

I use the app Program Manger that comes with the phone and put it as a widget on one of my desktop pages. It helps a lot. I also go into (from desktop) menu > setting >applications > running services to see if any rouge services are running and close them. if you didn't pay for the Sprint Hotpot service (30 bucks extra), then you can turn off that service because you are not using it.

I'm still learning but I have 6 fam & friends with Andriod phone (3 w/ EVOs 2 w/ EPICs & 1 Droid), so there is a lot of sharing going on. :-)

You don't need a task killer for the Epic 4g. It comes with a Samsung Widget called 'Program Manager' that you can add to one of your screens. It let's you kill running programs. It even warns you by changing color when you have too many running. I barely every kill any apps and still get great battery life.

I have had my Epic 4G since launch and I have to say that battery life is pretty good. I take it off the charger at 6am and don't have to charge it again until 10p or so and I use the phone a lot. I find it much better than the battery life I would get on the EVO.

Seesmic is the best twitter app for android, I can't believe it's the only one with a "one button return to the top of your list of tweet" feature by clicking the red bar.

simple elegant twitter app: "Twitter for Android"
full-featured twitter app: "Touiteur"

Robo-Defense is a fun game your kid might like. Also, Paper Toss and Doodle Jump are good time-wasters. You might also be into the MLB Mobile At Bat 2010 app (basically MLB.tv / gameday for your phone).

if you are looking for a good twitter app Twitter actually made their own app so that may help. the newest game out is Angry Birds that is a MUST HAVE for any casual or hardcore gamer. Midomi is a Music recognition software that works as good or better than Shazam, and it is free. Shopsavvy is great for Barcode/ QR code scanner and wish listing the stuff you want or need more info on products. Kindle reader for Android is out now... so that's free (tons of free classics). anyway that is my two cents worth. :D
