Question about
Often overheats on left side, now running slower. Any ideas?
The left side of the laptop often overheats, even when I have space for the fans to run/cool off. And I've noticed that since it's started to do this, the computer runs a bit slower. I've tried cleaning my system through Windows, I've tried cleaning out the inside via air can... any other ideas? It's more of annoyance than anything, just would prefer it to stop.
When this happens to me, I have a take apart day. Remove the heatsink and fan. Hit it with the air can again when it's out of the system. Buy some thermal paste. Arctic Silver 5 is fairly popular. Here's a newegg link to buy some.

My local staples carries it if you don't want to order online.
Remove any of the original thermal seal that will be on the heatsink and CPU.
Apply your thermal past and put everything back together.
If you do decide to give it a try, it looks like your laptop should be fairly easy to take apart. Here's the service manual for your laptop.

You really only need two parts of it though.

Remember to always pull the battery before beginning work on a laptop.
