Question about
Not receiving new gmail messages
Hi folks - My wife changed her gmail address so based on following some suggestions I found online I cleared data for the Gmail and Gmail Storage apps and then next time I ran the Gmail app, it asked to login. We logged in under her new account and everything seemed fine. Except while it does download the messages initially, she doesn't receive any new messages. I fiddled with a few settings but couldn't get it to start getting email again. Rebooting the phone doesn't help. Even if I hit the Refresh button with the app, it doesn't find the new emails. Can anybody think of a setting somewhere that would prevent the Gmail app from being able to get new emails? Any ideas?
Well if you don't mind starting from scratch and redownloading all your apps and what not as long as you don't have any paid apps, you do do a factory wipe which would clear everything then you would have to login in to get on the phone again, like when you first bought it and it should work. Or you could set up the gmail under the IMAP email settings which is definitely not as good as the original gmail but it would work.

Thanks for the ideas. I've since done exactly that, I did a factory reset and set it up again under the new gmail account and the exact same thing is happening. However, one random email did just go through right away. Could it just be that it takes a long time to get the syncing going?

Yeah that's the thing. You click refresh within the gmail app and it doens't pull any new messages down. Then you pull up a browser and there's a bunch of new messages there. So it seems more than just the app not automaticlly checking for email, it's almost like it's not seeing the new email on the server.
