Need Advice for Next Ultraportable

Looking for a new laptop for grad school (economics) and it seems like I just can't find the right one. The MBA looks and feels amazing, but I like to game on the go between study sessions (mainly Magic Online which doesn't have a Mac client) and I'm worried about proper spreadsheet support+any statistical package my professors decide to use.

Considering I'm going to be doing a bunch of writing, Lenovo (X1 or E420s) is a real possibility, but I like studying and doing work at coffee shops, not pitch black basements, so those glossy screens worry me. VAIO Z is unnecessary when I have a rig at home.

That leaves me mainly looking at a VAIO S and a Toshiba Protege, possibly an HP Pro/Elite book. I may drive down to Stanford to their Sony store to get a VAIO S in my hands, but I don't really know anything about Toshiba products, how's the kb and screen? Don't think I can get a student discount on those HP business laptops which annoys me and makes me want to buy elsewhere.

Any thoughts, comments? Thank you!

If you're considering a thinkpad x1 or e420s, I would take a look at the thinkpad x220 or x220 tablet as well.

get the macbook air, the base model, it's only 949 if you're a student, and put windows 7 on it. It's thin, powerful, and very portable, perfect for students.
