Native resolution and DVI

I have a computer hooked up to this TV with a DVI to HDMI adapter. For whatever reason, I can't get it to do the stated native resolution of 1280x1080. I get a messed up picture (like I'm using the wrong refresh rate). It seems happy at 1280x720. I'd like to use the native resolution. Is that possible?

Found the answer to my own question. Apparently a lot of TVs will convert an HDMI signal to a standard resolution (like 1280x720). If you want to use the native resolution you need to use VGA, which of course, this TV doesn't support. Oh well.
