Question about
my wife and I each have a new Ipod touch. we am having an intermittent problem with facetime app.
Occasionally ipod #1 needs to have facetime restarted in order to receive calls from Ipod #2. usually this is after it has been sleeping for a few hours and was still connected to the wifi. i dont have the time to sit at another wifi location to try to determine if this problem could in any way have anything to do with my wireless router setup or my server (shaw) or my kaspersky. I bought and installed a new router (cisco e1000) just to eliminate that possibility. 99% of the time everything works fine. when i am having the trouble the Ipod still has a good wifi connection and you can surf the net etc., just wont receive a call until you reset facetime. this is no good for obvious reasons, any ideas, thanks,
When the iPod touch sleeps while connected to a wifi network, it turns off wifi to save battery life and turns it back it on when you turn it back on. It usually takes a couple of seconds.
If you find that even after you wait a couple a seconds for your iPod to be re-assigned a new IP Address that you're still having issues receiving calls to iPod #1, I would suggest re-installing iOS. Connect the iPod to your computer, start iTunes and go into the device tab. From there you should see a "Restore" Option.. Click it and follow the instructions.
