Question about
My screen is FUBARed. What's my next move?
I purchased my Evo on launch day and it's been a great device since. Today I was pulling something out of my gym locker and my Evo got knocked out and fell flat on the bench, thus seriously messing up the screen ( twitpic.com/5q9ijb ). I know the phone still works because I can call it (and it rings) and I can feel the vibration feedback when I unlock it and press the capacitive buttons.
So now I must consider my next option. I need a smartphone for next week so I can't just order a new screen and replace it myself (although I'll probably do this eventually and sell the device). I eventually want to make my way to Verizon for an LTE device however I still have 11 months on my Sprint contract and I'd rather not pay an ETF (but I will if I have to). So I'm thinking I buy an EVO 3D (like the specs but don't want 3D and I have yet to be impressed with Wimax) unsubsidized and sell the 4G, then after 11 months, I sell the 3D and get a good LTE device on Verizon. Or I jump ship right now, pay the Sprint ETF, and get a Thunderbolt (a device I don't really want because it's already a few months old and didn't have revolutionary specs to begin with).
Also, if/when I go to Verizon I'll be going on a family plan with someone who currently has another Android device (with unlimited data). I'm going to still want/need unlimited data so is it possible for me to take the unlimited data from the other person and have them get the 2GB/mo since they don't even come close to that?
Appreciate the help.

Considering how low the selling price for the 4G is at the moment to gazelle.com or amazon.com, I don't think it will be worth your investment to replace the screen. I haven't priced screens, but I doubt you will come out much ahead, so don't factor that into your equation too much. There's no guarantee that the resell on the 3D will be that great in 11 months, so I don't know if you really have a good solution at this point. Since there doesn't seem to be a good Verizon phone you're interested in at the moment, I'd go down to the local Sprint store and ask around and see if any of the sales people have an old Android phone they'd sell you, or maybe find someone who has one they can sell you if they are in for an upgrade. That would be the cheapest way to buy some time, most likely. Maybe they could loan one out if you wanted to try and replace the screen on yours?
As far as the family plan goes, don't all the carriers just drop whatever you currently have and roll you into a family plan when you go that route? The family plans are entirely different in pricing from solo plans. If so, you'd lose whatever they currently have and you'd be starting over. I have never dealt with Verizon, so I may be wrong, but I wouldn't assume anything until you talk to them.
