Question about
my phone only shows either the apple logo or a pictogram telling me that i should connect my phone with ITunes. It only does so when connected to the mains.
when connected to my macbook or to nothing at all, it shows nothing at all. resetting doesn't work either, no matter how long i keep both buttons pressed, whether i connect it or not and whether i connect it to the mains or to my macbook.

It's a bit weird that it doesn't show up when you plug it into your mac.
Either take it to an Apple Store and let them fix it or put it into DFU mode to restore as new.
