Question about
my computer is now not recognizing the My Passport Essential (Windows 7 Ultimate, thinkpad t61p)
and I am thinking it is a driver issue, where can I get the driver to reinstall?
Drivers should be available on the manufacturer's website but Window's Update usually does a good job of recognizing devices and retrieving drivers, etc. It may be the that the USB port isn't providing enough power to run it which would result in the white activity light just flashing on/off in even intervals. Your Thinkpad should have at least one powered USB port. I bring this up because on some Macbook Pro models the voltages of the ports are different. The lower voltage port wouldn't power an external drive when the other would. Hope this helps, or is at least insightful.

You can go to the wd website and check for your product and look for downloads in the support, it will have all the documentation and software required for you to install on your system.
