my cam auto focuses in still mode but not video (the menu setting is on "yes" for auto focus in video mode.

is there a problem with the lens communicating with cam?

Not going to work in video mode- DSLR's in general are manual focus for video, unless you invest in some really expensive add ons. It's best for fixed focus, tripod mounted video scenes

Not entirely sure how auto-focus works with video in this camera. Does it have continuous auto-focus? It seems some other gdgt users have been similar having issues with this camera as well: gdgt.com­/discuss­/continuous­-autofocus­-in­-movie­-cap...

No DSLR has auto focus while shooting video, except for the newly released Nikon D3100.
