Move to iCloud?

I currently use Google as my contacts, address book, calendar so everything is already in the cloud. Why would I want to change to iCloud for this? What benefits does it provide beyond Google's solutions?

Actually, I doubt I will be using iCloud at all. As a avid photographer, were I to allow it to backup all the photos I transfer to my iPad, I would quickly use up my mobile data plan. I'm not sure that I will use it for sync either since there is a 5GB limit and you have to pay extra for anything above that.

I chose to manage through gmail instead of syncing with iCloud but I'm also interested to hear if someone's made the switch and can give some feedback. I was assuming most of what was changed in iCloud wouldn't make it back to gmail which I wouldn't like.

I like the cloud for my photo stream (to upload photos via wi-fi from computer to iPhone), but I've noticed I'm getting 2-3 duplicate entries from calendar & bookmarks sync on my phone. Not sure why. I'll be switching back to my Google sync to avoid this as I can find no answers. I like that any new pics I take with my iPhone are automatically uploaded to iCloud so I can access them on both computers, too. Pros & cons...
