Mine keeps crashing, need to replace :(

So I can't for the life of me figure out why my phone crashes when I convert from landscape to vertical mode especially when it's still processing something, sending SMS, etc. I'd pretty much want to replace this item but it is out of warranty. Any ideas how to fix the problem or which phone I should go for to replace this with? I do like the Nexus one but it's pretty pricey unless I'm a new customer or done with my contract. I'd like the HD2 but I don't know when that will be released here in US. Should I just pay for an upgrade (extending my contract yet again for 2 years) to replace with any of the current T-Mobile phones?

Have you tried a factory reset? www.androidcentral.com/factory-reset-tmobile-g1

Thanks, it still does it for some odd reason. I still have the phone actually. tried going back and forth with this phone I'm debating on Samsung Behold II, it's cheap but still sadly stuck at 1.5, if I can't handle it for 2 days, it's going back to the store and maybe get a Mytouch replacement.

I'd wait it out for the HTC Bravo, X10 and other rumored devices. But the option is there if you want it.

Also I think you should get phone insurance until you have a backup.

I pretty much will give this phone I got for a replacement as a gift for my mom in the end as she wants to have a google phone sometime if possible (and she's hella cheap so she'll probably just want any google phone she can brag about yet not knowing anything about it.) I actually would like the X10 but I don't know if I want it if it's not released and/or can not update to a new firmware like the Samsung Behold II is stuck at 1.5 right now. I wanna see more options too in the future but then I don't want to get swarmed but too many options.

I'd really be interested in the Bravo but if not, the only other phone I'd be interested in is actually the HTC HD2 since the screen is so nice with that one and it seems it might be able to upgrade to WinMo 7 (if that ever comes out.) The only thing though is I'm addicted to Android now.

Well for cheap android phones on T-Mobile you have the Cliq, Behold II, and the Magic. (I will not type out My Touch 3G a million times. Silly name.) The Magic was announced nearly a year ago making it old by Android standards.

As for guts these 3 are the exact same phone, same ROM, RAM, CPU and chipset.

Whats different is the Cliq's keyboard, The Behold II's AMOLED display and flash and the Magic's 1.6, lack of of a 5MP camera and 3.5mm jack. Just about every other difference can be attributed to shape.

Now if your in my boat and bought the G1 at least a year ago the other difference is price, the Behold II is at $180, the Magic and Cliq are at $150.

All 3 have been rooted so I'd not worry about software so much.

I need to find this info on how to root the Behold II. If this phone still doesn't work, I got a few days to change to Mytouch. All I could find online is that it will take some time before 2.0 comes out for this phone and I'd rather root it if I could find a site for it.

Thanks for your advice and everyone's response!
