Maximum RAM?

The product description by Asus says that this laptop can only support up to 4GB of RAM but when I run SIW on it, it says the maximum RAM is 8GB. I'd like to upgrade to 8 but don't want to buy some sticks and end up wasting my money. Has anyone tried this?
