Question about
MacBook Air Superdrive Region Free?
I've purchased a MacBook Air Superdrive which I would like to flash to make it a region free drive, the model number is HL-DT-ST DVDRW GX30N. Any ideas?
don't know if it's the same for a Mac, but I know when I had to do it with windows on my US-purchased laptop I had to go into the device manager and switch the regions around through that. it was in the same area that handled the enabling and disabling settings.

Possibly try VLC to play the region problem disc.

Unfortunately to do this properly requires someone capable of hacking the firmware of the drive and then you can flash. Best place to check and/or ask is forum.rpc1.org

Try ripping the DVD (with MacTheRipper, or something similar). Sometimes you'll be able to get the video files off the DVD without actually playing it.
