I have a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 that works perfectly with my 2009 Macbook Pro. I don't know why it wouldn't work with a Mac Mini. I have it perched up on my external display as well.

I use a logitech pro 9000 which is plug 'n play and it works just fine. Picture is clear, sound is great!
