Low base volume on Onkyo HT-R640. Why?

So I bought a used HT-R640 a few weeks ago and finally got around to hooking it up. Everything has been amazing, but for some reason in order to hear anything we have to have the volume up in the 60s.

My setup is as follows:
TiVo HD -> Logitech Revue -> Onkyo HT-R640 -> Samsung UN32D4003

This is all being connected via HDMI.

Speakers we've got hooked up are all the ones that came with the unit: front left/right, center, surround left/right and the subwoofer.

I've heard that it might be a source issue, but I haven't seen anything in either my TiVo or Revue settings that seems like it'd help.

Any ideas?

Just some thoughts here:
  • What is 60? That really has no meaning - is it out of 100, 500, 1000? 60 may be the correct spot for the receiver. Since the signal is all digital through HDMI, it should be coming through at the correct level.
  • Do you hear the noise floor come up when you put the volume at 60 (meaning, some background hiss)? If the signal is all digital, then I doubt you'd hear a background hiss, but that might be the first indication that something is amiss with the setting at 60.
  • Can you plug in your phone (most likely with the volume turned all the way up) or other sound source with a line level output with either a 1/8" minijack or RCA connection and see where your master volume level is when listening to that source through the receiver. That might give you a better idea of where the master volume should be for it's normal listening level.
Then again, if things sound correct, and you're not getting distortion or hearing the noise floor at 60, there may be absolutely nothing wrong.
