Question about

Looking to buy an Ultrabook, some advice?

I have been looking at ultrabooks and prices.
So far the ones I am interested in the most are as follows:
ASUS Zenbook UX31E-XH71
HP Folio 13
Apple Macbook Air
Dell XPS 13
Lenovo Ideapad Yoga

Should I wait to see what the market does for Ultrabooks?
Some of these devices aren't even out yet, which is a downer. But will it be worth the wait?

If you have used any of these devices, what is something you specifically love about the device?

Any other advice/tips are appreciated, thank you.

(Operating System doesn't matter to me, even linux will do. The biggest factors for me are portability, battery life, and performance. HP Folio 13 has the best battery life atm, so keep that in mind)

You did say OS doesn't matter - but if you want to run Windows on it, rule out the Macbook.

As of now, I'd put the Toshiba Z835 in the running as well. Lightest of these budget machines, reasonable runtime, pretty robust, well priced (<$1K for an i5/6/128 machine). Screen is not as terrible as many say, though I will grant you that vertical angles are not great. SSD is definitely on the slow side, but overall performance is fine.

But sure, if you wait then there are going to be better ultrabooks. But as with anything tech, you could be waiting forever.

If you want an ultra-ultrabook, then consider the Sony Z2. While on the surface it looks like an overpriced UX31, in fact there is nothing else quite like it on the market.

If you have the money and no time to wait then buy a Macbook Air 13, you will not regret it.

If you can wait then wait for Samsung series 5 and Acer Aspire S5.

Wow the Sony Z2 has got them all beat, but that price would punch my wallet pretty hard.

That Toshiba Z835 has great competitive price, I just don't know if the specs are the performance I am looking for. The battery life is great though. I can find it for around $800

The HP Folio 13 is only $900 and has even better battery life.

And then the macbook air just has a lot of good rep and decent specs. (but only in comparison to the base model @ $1000 which then the specs aren't so great.)

I am not sure what to do here. So many options! lol

I own a MacBook Air 11.6 and a HP Folio 13. The MacBook Air is the standard for ultrabooks right now. I have to run Windows software for work now, so I'm switching over to the HP. It's the closet I could find that could compare as far as user interface goes. The keyboard is just as good as the Air. The trackpad is not as good as the air, but better than those from Asus/Acer/Lenovo. The HP's Sandy Bridge Core i5 and 128GB SSD are very quick. The machine shuts down and restarts in 25 seconds. If you have to have a Windows machine and battery life is important, I recommend the HP Folio. If battery isn't as important, then the Air running Windows via Boot Camp may be a better option due to the outstanding trackpad.
