Question about
Lead time for delivery?
i just ordered my Studio XPS 16 with Core i7 (the 1645 variant). The Dell estimated delivery date is set for January 11th 2010. This a LONG time for me to wait for my new laptop! How accurate was the estimated delivery date for you when you ordered your system??
I have noticed when I order Dell laptops for my clients they can come as early as a week before the estimated delivery date. It honestly just depends on if you customize the laptop and what parts you use. They keep certain quantities of certain hardware and on some hardware there is a little bit of a wait to get it in. I ordered a Studio XPS 16, as well, about 4 days ago and mine said it was said to be here on January 5th.

I've ordered 2 Dell laptops in the past. From memory both came a little bit earlier than the estimated date (maybe one or two days). I think they deliberately overstate just to 'under promise and over deliver', but don't be upset if it arrives on the 11th.
If I recall correctly the most time was taken up in the build and getting it out of the factory. Once that happened it took about two days to get from somewhere in Asia to me in Australia.
