Have you updated to Android 2.3.3? This was an early issue with Gingerbread on the Nexus S, but either 2.3.2 or 2.3.3 seemed to resolve it for most.

Not sure, do the update happen automatically over the air?

They do unless you update manually. You would have been prompted to restart and install the update if it was downloaded, though. Open Settings and scroll down to "About phone." What version number is listed under "Android version?"

I can't get pass the Google logo to look at my settings. Is there another way for me to tell?

Ah, interesting. I can't say I've run across an issue like this with the Nexus S where it's stuck on the boot screen. It sounds like a factory reset via booting into recovery mode might be in order. I'd wait for other gdgt users with a more intimate knowledge of Android and potential solutions to issues such as this to chime in before doing so, however.
