Question about
Is this worth buying if you already own a Roku XDS?
I currently have the Roku XDS, and while I love it, I will say sometimes the time it takes to process can be annoying. I already have Angry Birds on pretty much everything I own, so that doesn't concern me, and other motion control games, I already own gaming consoles for that. What I'm hoping and I've heard rumored is that the Roku2 has much better performance, is this true, and if so is it a big difference between the performance of the older Roku boxes?

I'd say no, the other features (RF bluetooth remote, new Netflix app that supports subtitles, dolby 5.1 and adaptive encoding) that the Roku 2 XS has over the XDS don't seem worth it to me. No one's really mentioned better performance of the channels, but I find that's more of a limitation that's dependent on your internet connection and the old IR remote. Also, keep in mind that the new Rokue 2 XS has 256MB of RAM and lacks component outputs, which is still a relatively small amount.

For me: Yes.
Roku is one of those technologies, like the DS line, in which I indulge. Because of the reasonable price point and simplicity, I've made a habit of buying the newest model and passing the old version down to friends and family.
I so believe in cutting the cord and getting rid of physical media that I want to share the experience. Like I said this is how I felt with the DS: I began passing them down to extend the product line into my family. We then began to play together.
Are you getting anything extra? Minus the above mentioned stuff, not really. There's a bit more snappy performance, and Angry Birds runs a lot more smoothly than I anticipated...so the promise of future applications has me excited, but all in all this is just an updated, polished device.

I'm intrigued by the new Netflix app but I'm reluctant to upgrade at this point. I have a XD and a XDS that are working great for me now. I do like the idea of passing my old one on to friend or family.

Hi, does the new Roku XDS have a faster interface? I have the original Roku, and it is pretty slow.
