Is this seriously not bluetooth? USB dongle required… in 2011… for 10$ more than a magic mouse? Am I missing something?

The reason they do it is pretty simple - 'only my self-absorbed example fits' Apple types are not who they're catering for in the main: The vast majority of desktops for example out there don't have BT, and therefore a supplied dongle is much more universal (and sometimes, better performance).

As AOD mentioned, the use of a USB dongle allows the mouse to be used on a comparatively enormous amount of computers. Also, I got mine brand new from Amazon for $10 LESS than the Magic Mouse.

I have a Logitech MX Revolution and it also has a dongle, does that make it inferior to the magic mouse just because it doesn't use bluetooth?

@brett I could have had bluetooth and then just included a bluetooth usb dongle. That way it would still work on most computers, but would have the added feature of being able to connect to a bluetooth enabled computer without the dongle.
