Is this a DSLR you can set as a webcam?

I'm looking towards the Canon T3i primarily for making videos on YouTube. I have a Canon Elph 300HS currently, and I was considering this for the next step up. I just recently ruled out the T3 due to the lack of microphone input.

Now this isn't a deal breaker, but I know certain Canon DSLRs can be set as a webcam (to specifiy, I use Windows 7) through the HDMI output. Is that possible with this model? I'd like to use it with Xplit software to stream a live webcast to Ustream. And if it doesn't, which of the Canon DSLR models is capable? Would I have to go up to the 60D, or even the 7D?

On a side note, I also hear that these cameras tend to heat up when used over a long period. Is that something to worry about? Am I better off using this for regular filming, and investing in a good camcorder or webcam for my live streaming? Its going to be a multicam setup and I have a Microsoft LiveCam Cinema 720p and a Logitech Pro 9000 already.

I don't think you can use a DSLR as a webcam without some hacky set up. I've seen several videos online showing how to set this up with screen capture software, such as this one: vimeo.com/12352680. If you want to make Youtube videos, you could just record them to the SD card in the camera, which will give you flexibility to edit them afterwards.

As for DSLRs getting hot, I've never experienced that with my Canon T1i.

The camera has both HDMI and analogue video out. If you had some sort of video input card, you could use it as a webcam. You're better option would be to a regular USB webcam. It would be so much easier to set up. All the Canon DSLRs have the same outputs, so none would work any better as webcams.

I did a little look online and there is a company (www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/) makes a series of HDMI video inputs but they are $200-300. That buys an very nice webcam.

As to the heating up issue. I've used it to record record 30-40 minute videos and although it gets a bit warm, I don't think it is too hot to damage anything.
