i dont think so. look at what we got this year: iphone 4s and a measly white ipod touch. no upgrades just change of color. why? because it is a low profit margin for apple and apple hate low profit margins which is why it axed xserve. an iphone costs like $600 for 8gb while the ipod touch starts at $175. this means that apple cannot put the same iphone tech into the ipod touch. we have seen this by the lack of 3g, better screen, more ram, various sensors, and more. it just costs apple too much to put the A5 chip into an ipod touch. also since the iphone is so popular, it is drawing away customers for the ipod touch. if you look at the stats (apple heart stats) iphone sales are up while ipod sales are down. As much as i love my ipod touch, i dont see a bright future for this device :...(

Apple is advertising the iPod Touch primarily as a gaming device. More and more games require a dual core chip, so it is likely Apple will update the iPod Touch in the near future.
