Is there any way to use the Nike+ FuelBand without having it on your wrist?

I'm a long-time FitBit user and fan, but I am still super curious about the Nike+ FuelBand. Problem is I don't like wearing things on my wrists. (I'm sure I can't be alone!)

Has anyone figured out a way to use the FuelBand that isn't on their wrist? I assume ankle is out (and totally impractical), but what about just keeping it in your pocket, in your bag, or somewhere else on your person?

you could technically use it strapped around your ankle? the problem for either is that nike calibrates your "fuel" to various patterns of movement as they would happen from your arm. so you'll get a more accurate score by wearing it on your wrist. not that the score is all that accurate since you could do pushups or ride a bike all day and still have a fuel score of near zero.

I regularly use it for cycling by strapping it on my shoe. I've used it on my wrist for the same activity and as you might expect you earn a much higher fuel score from the continuous movement closer to the pedal than handlebar.

My wrist is too small to use the same band on my ankle though that's certainly possible. I believe there are actually some differences based in the assumptions within the algorithm for right vs left side and I'd expect some variance across worn locations. It's all about relative measure of activity anyway though ...

I would like to wear it on my ankle but is it still accurate? Otherwise the Fitbit can be worn in your pocket or clipped to the underwear.

I put my Nike+ FuelBand in my pocket sometimes (like when I'm washing dishes) and it continues to add points.

You can put a chain on it and wear it as a necklace.

But frankly, i think the ipod nano 6th gen would be the way to go (nike+ setup). Pair with a ipod bluetooth adapter and a jabra sport bluetooth headset, then you're all set for a workout or a quick run. Buying a lunatik for the nano is also best when you don't want things "juggling" in your pocket while running.

I read on Nike's twitter feed that you don't get "full credit" for cycling, but I think if you wear it on your ankle or clip it around your shoe laces you should do pretty good. If either of those aren't an option, maybe inside the shoe or your pocket might be the way to go, but whatever limb you're using the most it should be at the furthest point away from your body to get the most "fuel". I'd still like to know what "fuel" is. I haven't found anything yet to indicate what it is a measurement of. I would have like to set my goal by calories or steps, I think that'd be more intuitive.
