Question about
is there any way to group audiobooks together on the actual ipod and not just in Itunes?
Create a new Smart Playlist in iTunes. You need just one rule, "Media Kind" "is" "Audiobook". Select the new Smart Playlist for sync to your iPod. That should do it.
Optionally, if you only want to sync over audiobooks that you haven't read, add a second rule to the above Smart Playlist: "Plays" "is less than" "1".
