Is there any software for Mac that can let me write and read SMS messages that I get on my phone?

I like to use Google Voice for that, the only drawback being is that you'll get a new number OR have to pay to get your carrier number ported to Google Voice.

Google Voice lets you read/send SMS straight from the browser. You can also install a Chrome add-on that will actually make a *ding* sound every time you get a new message.

unfortunately... and who knows when it will be..

i am hoping more for an APP that works over bluetooth or so that will let me send and recieve sms when my mobile phone is near my laptop (Which means im at my computer..)

anyone?

Desktop Notifications handle the receive part well, and the developer is working on allowing replies from the client.

(FWIW, the older MacDroidNotifier is better last time I checked - in taking it multi-platform, the newer version loses some of the ease of setup and integration with Growl. See if you can get a version of MacDroidNotifier 0.2.9)

Hey Jamie, thanx. helpful. It does work ok, even though i couldn't make it work over bluetooth :S it says "paired but not connected..." i tried everything..

i like this notifications thing, and now i only need something that can let me send sms from my mac through android. And, no, my phone is not rooted :)

there was a thing it worked over borwser thorugh some port, dont know.. but it didn't work that well...

I've not tried Bluetooth, only Wifi, which works for when I need it. Obviously both ends have to be activated (i.e. both pieces of software running). What happens when you send a ping?

it just reports some problem thats all.. while on wifi it works just fine..

i just found it, it lets you control your android phone over jabber client, and i use my own GMAIL client thats my default client in the phone. You say "sms:John Smith: hello there" and it sends an sms to John Smith with text "hello there" ... you type RING and it starts ringing... it all works over adium :) you chat with yourself... crazy.. genius.. i love it

What sort of phone do you have? BluePhoneElite works really well if your phone is supported (read: not iPhone).
MyPhoneDesktop (on the AppStore) let's you send from your Mac, but it's web based not Bluetooth... It works pretty well for iOS devices!
