Is there a way to stream photos from my computer to my iPad?

I would love to stream photos that are stored on my computer to my iPad 2, and use the iPad as a digital picture frame when I am not using it. Is there an app that offers this?

Guess what? With the new iCloud feature, Photo Stream, you'll be able to do this soon with no workaround! It's like Steve was reading your mind...

You'd have to make the iPad "see" networked folders. I found this article that has some instructions on doing this with a Windows Home Server add-on and Goodreader, which IMHO is a must-have app for file management on the iPad:

I'm not sure how to do this on a Mac though. Probably something similar.

I'd bet that Apple will eventually expand their "Home Sharing" feature of iTunes to include photos - if nothing else, on Mac OS X (because of iPhoto). But, we'll see.

This app, StreamToMe will do it: itunes.apple.com/us/app/streamtome/id325327899?mt=...

I don't have experience with this app personally, but I use other iOS to Computer transfer programs that sync and move photos from iOS. Also, I use Apple's AirPlay constantly for video and audio streaming and have never had problems with performance or quality so I imagine you'd not have problems just streaming photos from your MB Pro to the iPad.

Zumocast was a popular app that could do what you want also but it was pulled from the iTunes Store a few months ago.

Plex will work, except the Plex app on iOS you do have to pay.
