Is the WWAN broadband slot BIOS locked?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew if the WWAN slot on the dell XPS m1530 was BIOS locked to only Dell branded wireless modules or not. i.e the laptop will not boot up windows when the BIOS detects a WWAN modules that is not Dell's own hardware eg Dell 5520 Mobile Broadband Card.
I want to purchase a 3rd party mobile broadband adaptor and don't want to end up with the above situation (the BIOS not wanting to recognise the module).
If anyone has had any experience with using other embedded wireless modules with XPS laptop and could share how that has turned out for them, that would be very appreciated.
Thank you

I don't believe it is BIOS Locked. I have a M1530 and I run Snow Leopard on it. I installed a Broadcom WiFi card that was used in a lot of Macbooks (found it on ebay). Because it works with macbooks I figured it would work with my "hackintosh" setup. It did.

It works in Snow Leopard out of the box, and Windows 7 also knew how to use it.
I believe this is the exact same model as the one I purchased years ago:

Hope this helps :)
