Question about
Is the 4.0 firmware update for PS3 working ok for everybody?
Sony just released the new software but I'm hearing it's bricking some people's consoles. Has anyone downloaded it yet? I'm wondering if I should hold off.. I already have a finicky failing unit as it is.

I updated last night but didn't test it. Had it on auto shut down after installing. I should double check if this is true.

I just updated earlier today, I had no idea that it was bricking consoles. Really hope that doesn't happen... (Been working fine so far, been watching Netflix for a few hours).

The firmware update went well for me, personally. I haven't had any issues. It may be worth noting that I have a PS3 Slim (160GB) and not one of the older models.

My Ps3 and older model that was bundled with motor storm is acting up. HDMI issues. the Ps3 is hooked up to a Samsung DLP, no issues ever, till yesterday I got the black screen, so I hooked the set up with the old S-video cable and had a signal and I could browse through settings to try to get it working right, no luck. There is a signal over HDMI but it's just black when it should be the XMB or whatever. I tried hooking the Ps3's HDMI to my ASUS monitor and it worked fine.... all resolutions worked, but when i try it with my Samsung set it's back to black. my Xbox360 works fine with this set.... my DirecTV DVR works..... and the Ps3 will work fine with a different monitor. ;/
