Well, though they have stopped manufacturing the cameras, Cisco will continue technical and software support for the Flip series until December 31, 2013. So that gives you a year-and-a-half of official corporate support, plus it's not like the camera and its software is going to magically stop working after that (and you don't need the software to take videos off or upload, it's just really helpful). It's a good camcorder, and being discontinued means you'll be able to get one at a good price.
