Is it still worth it to get the Arrive?

I'm hoping to move to a new carrier within the next few months, and I'm really considering Sprint. AT&T it automatically out for me, as 1. I don't trust AT&T coverage AT ALL. 2. AT&T generally isn't great in my area. Verizon is good, but some of their plans are a bit too expensive for my tastes. So I looked to Sprint. I want Windows Phone, and the only here is the Arrive. The Arrive isn't by definition old, it launches earlier this year, and has the usual specs for a Windows Phone device. I've used it before, and have really liked it's feel, and it also is upgradeable to Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango). FURTHERMORE, it's free on Amazon Wireless with new service. Basically it's completely appealing to me.

Do you guys think it's still a good choice to get if I'm looking at the next few months?

The Arrive is a medium grade phone in the world of larger faster more powerful phones.

If you are not desperate to get a phone right now and price is not your primary concern, give it a little time until the new Nokia phones are announced and see if any are headed for Sprint. Unfortunately for you, Verizon and Sprint appear to be bad choices for WP7 as they each have only one option and I don't see much in the way of announcements that they plan to carry many more.

If price is key,WP7 is your top choice of OS and you want a phone now, then the Arrive is your only choice.

Ultimately, if you want WP7 and a good phone, wait until the first part of 2012. Normally it doesn't pay to wait for new technology as it is always getting better and faster while you wait, however for this OS waiting is the key as they are playing catch up to Android and iOS with hardware.

Edit:
Forgot about this article talking about the upcoming 2012 WP7 phones:

While I liked the arrive,, no I don't think it is, because all the new Windows phones since Mango has been released are beginning to come out, and once Nokia World happens, we will see many new Windows Phones coming our way. Personally I'd wait, and see what comes next. I still have my Samsung Focus and don't get me wrong, i love it, but unless Nokia really screws up this release, the N9 with Windows Phone 7 is looking pretty sweet.

I have the Arrive. Sprint updated the OS to WP7.5 (Mango). It's been a very solid, dependable phone that hasn't given me a bit of trouble. It's one of the few Windows Phones with keyboard so it's ideal if that's one of your sought after features. Hardware-wise none of the new phones have blown away the current models. Yet. A little better but not make you sad you bought a first-gen device sad. For instance, the Arrive has a built-in compass. This is a feature a lot of the newer phones still don't have.

Like you said, skip the Sprint stores. They're overcharging. Amazon's got it for a penny. Or Best Buy has it for $50. I think you'll be pleased.

You can get the Arrive on eBay for about $200 off contract-- I just did this. Love it, but I don't think I'd be happy with it for 2 years, so I would not want it to be my contract phone. If you didn't mind a new 2 yr contract, you would be better off getting a Sprint iPhone 4 for $100, selling it on eBay for $500, and then buying an Arrive outright.

I have the arrive, and while I love it, the hardware keyboard just adds too much bulk. The sliding mechanism also isn't very smooth. Everything else about it is great and worthwhile, but at this point, I would wait a month or two until the native Mango phone come out and take advantage of newer updated hardware.

So i just did this myself, got the arrive but i didn't switch carriers for it. it's been about 2 months and so far i'm happy with it. it's not blowing my mind but i didn't expect it to. It's just a solid device that gets nearly all the basics done well with a slick OS. And mango doesn't seem to be super feature packed, but i've found that nearly all of the upgrades are something I can actually make use of. Once you can get over the fact that specs aren't everything, and push your nerdy instincts to the side, you'll find that this is a perfectly good device to roll with, even though it's a bit older.
There have been virtually no rumors for future WP7 phones hitting sprint or verizon yet. I think we can assume they'll have something in the pipe, but there's nothing to go on for now. Besides that, the 2nd gen hardware isn't offering a vast improvement anyway. Wait for the nokia announcement, if we're lucky we'll get one of their sets on sprint, but i wouldn't assume that's going to be the case.
An alternate option would be to get the arrive off ebay, it'd be more expensive, but then you'd have an upgrade through sprint available for whatever comes in future.

If you love the OS and the keyboard, why not? :)
