Is it safe to leave Bluetooth on at all times?

I started syncing my iPhone with my car, and have inadvertently been leaving the Bluetooth radio on all the time.

Is this still a major security vulnerability? Or has recent Bluetooth updates and/or iOS restrictions made this less so?

I am pretty sure they patched up the vulnerability in like 2008 or 2009. Leave it on. :)

As far as I know, the Bluetooth spec is very secure (both devices usually have to enter in the same PIN to connect them together), so as long as Apple have implemented Bluetooth correctly (which is likely, and if they haven't, they'll fix it as soon as insecurities are known), you should be fine leaving it on.

Your only issue will be a slightly decreased battery life.

Especially with iOS, I really don't see how it could be a security vulnerability. With more open OSes that allow you to do a lot more, like Android, it could pose as a potential threat, though still relatively difficult.

In any case, long gone are the people who try and take advantage of these Bluetooth vulnerabilities, so you really don't need to concern yourself with it.

All inputs are a potential security vulnerability, and radios even more so. WiFi, Bluetooth, Cellular, and others could potentially be exploited if there is some sort of flaw in the software / hardware stack that processes incoming packets. The fewer open radios / inputs, the better. That said, if there are no current known attacks, your likely fine. That may change in the future, but I would not be overly concerned, other than for your battery life.
