Is it possible to purchase a headphone jack remote for the iphone4?

Apple's iphone comes with a pair of headphones with a mic/remote. I'm not a fan of their headphones, so I was hoping to find a standalone remote that I can plug my own headphone into. Apple had a remote for the 3rd gen iPod classic that would allow you to play/pause/forward/back etc. I'd like to purchase such a remote that works with the iPhone 4, so I dont have to keep fumbling for the phone to change songs. I'd like a standalone remote because I chew through headphones pretty quickly. It doesnt make sense to purchase pricier headphones with remotes just to throw them away when one earbud has a wiring issue.
