What sorts of lighting conditions?

I find that even the iPhone 4's camera is susceptible to taking subpar images unless you have perfect lighting conditions or are staying perfectly still!

I've heard Wired report the same issue on this very device. May possibly be an error on Samsung/Microsoft's part...

I notice that the pictures look TERRIBLE when viewed on the device, but when I go back and review the shots through the web or on my PC they look fine

I personally havent seen this except in very low light situations. You could try turning on Anit-Shaking in the options menu.

I noticed this as well at first. Then I realized that it is actually snapping the image shortly after it makes the "shutter" sound. Try holding it stable for a second or so after you snap the picture.

I actually like the quality of the videos it takes.

I found the camera on the Focus to be FAR superior to my old iPhone 3G and especially my Droid X (which has a TERRIBLE camera).
