Question about
Is it just my device, or does everybody has the same (very) poorly brighten screen?
The screen of my GBC looks very dark, now that I'm used to modern portable devices.

That's because the GBC didn't have a backlight on the screen, so it was extremely dark and you needed some external light source to play on it. This resulted in the gigantic transformer-like light attachments back in the day. To bleary eyes everywhere, Nintendo portables didn't start getting backlights in their screens until the clamshell Game Boy Advanced SP.
